In 2001, SmartestEnergy was established as an aggregator of independent generation projects and entered the UK supply market in 2008.
Most recently, it has gone on to open offices in the United States and Australia, advancing its purpose to drive a smarter transition to a net-zero carbon future internationally. SmartestEnergy is a wholly owned subsidiary of Marubeni, a Japanese corporation listed in the Fortune Global 500 Company (No. 173).
SmartestEnergy is a next generation energy company with a unique business model built on strong customer relationships and trading expertise in the gas and power markets.
As the UK’s leading purchaser of independent generation with 3GW+ of capacity from UK projects, and a licensed energy supplier of 40,000 MPANs across its Industrial and Commercial and Business Divisions, it’s experienced in providing commercial agreements for a range of businesses across different sectors.
